The Whole Wheat Couscous Alternative.

Tomorrow, I have a test.  A test in Philosophy of Logic that is.
In the midst of regurgitating senseless indirect truth tables and determining tautologies, my Ferrari like metabolism revved its engines. In other, logistical words, if Sarah has a fast metabolism and it is dinner time, then Sarah must be hungry.
While the staple college meal may be Ramen Noodles, I prefer something a little more classy. I mean, this is a college food blog after all. Meeting all requirements for simple, cheap, and healthy, I give you…
The Whole Wheat Couscous Alternative.
Step 1: Create the Couscous.
Near East brand offers tons of flavors that cook in 5 minutes. Pour moi, I really enjoy their Roasted Garlic and Olive Oil. After you pick your poison, combine about 1/4 cup of couscous, 2-3 teaspoons of included mix and 1/4 cup +1/8 cup of water in a small pot. Bring to boil. Once boiling, remove from heat and cover for 5 minutes, or until all water is absorbed.
Step 2: Add In’s
Get some veggies and protein going while your couscous is in absorption phase.
These are my favorites:
1-2 tablespoons chopped spinach
1/4-1/2 cup peas
3 small slices of Campari tomato, diced
1 small green onion diced about halfway up stalk
1/2 cup shredded whole chicken breast (I really like turkey, too!)
Step 3: Heat n’ Eat
Mix together couscous and add in’s. Pop that bad boy into the microwave for about 30 seconds to allow flavors to meld. Enjoy!!!
